Edith Sanford Breast Center's accreditations demonstrate our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and access to a full spectrum of services. Accreditation is an important measure of quality, designed to improve safety and the patient experience. We hold many different accreditations throughout our footprint, and these are some of the accreditations held at our different locations.

Commission on Cancer Accreditation

Commission on Cancer AccredidationCenters recognized by the Commission on Cancer are making exceptional efforts to improve the survival rates and the quality of life of cancer patients. Cancer programs receive this distinction by setting high standards in prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care. Programs with CoC accreditation are recognized for providing quality cancer services close to home and a multidisciplinary team approach to care. In addition, they follow evidence-based national treatment guidelines, have access to clinical trials and the newest treatment options and offer follow-up care that utilizes a survivorship care plan.

Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Certification

ASCO Oncology CertificationThe American Society of Clinical Oncology acknowledges practices that meet certain defined quality and safety standards in the administration of cancer care. To achieve QOPI® Certification, a practice must meet or exceed a benchmark score on measures comparing the quality of their care against national standards. By choosing a practice certified by QCP™, you know you have selected a practice committed to delivering the highest quality cancer care.

ANCC Magnet® Recognition

ANCC Magnet Recognition

The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes health care organizations around the world that provide nursing excellence. Magnet®-designated health care institutions are part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. This means they are in the top one percent of facilities nationwide for nursing excellence.

This credential is the highest honor an institution can receive for professional nursing practice.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence – Breast Ultrasound

ACR ExcellenceAmerican College of Radiology recognizes organizations that have gone through a rigorous review process to ensure that nationally accepted standards of care are met. Personnel must be well qualified, through education and certification, to perform medical imaging, interpret images and administer radiation therapy treatments. Equipment must be appropriate for the test or treatment patients receive and must meet or exceed quality assurance and safety guidelines. Every aspect of the American College of Radiology accreditation process is overseen by board-certified, expert radiologists and medical physicists in advanced diagnostic imaging.

Board-certified, expert radiologists and medical physicists in advanced diagnostic imaging oversee every aspect of the American College of Radiology accreditation process.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers

National Accreditation Program for Breast CentersThe National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) is a consortium of national organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and monitoring outcomes for patients with diseases of the breast. The NAPBC Board defined 27 program standards and 17 program components of care that collectively provide the most efficient and contemporary care available.

American College of RadiologyThe American College of Radiology recognizes organizations that have gone through a rigorous review process to ensure that nationally accepted standards of care are met. Personnel must be well qualified, through education and certification, to perform medical imaging, interpret images and administer radiation therapy treatments. Equipment must be appropriate for the test or treatment patients receive and must meet or exceed quality assurance and safety guidelines. National Accreditation Program for Radiation Oncology

ACRThe ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific practice guidelines and technical standards developed by ACR after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
