Who Was Edith Sanford

A Mother Who Left a Powerful Legacy

Edith Sanford was a woman like many of us - a wife and a mother of two sons, Denny and Byron. Together, she and her husband William raised their family in the modest neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minn., during the post-Depression era, doing the best they could to provide for their family in a difficult time.

Before Edith's youngest son celebrated his fifth birthday, Edith passed away from breast cancer. Growing up without the love of a mother forever changed both of her sons.

In 2011, an incredible gift of $100 million was donated that would help launch the Edith Sanford Breast Center.

This story reminds us that it is the mothers, wives, sisters and best friends whom we fight for every day. It is our bold mission to find a cure to end this disease.
